Stove and Microwave- We have them installed

These were installed prior to Thanksgiving, but things have been hectic. Having a stove back has been great. The new microwave it pretty much nuclear. Things cook in half the time of our normal microwave. The stove has a griddle. This is great for pancakes for the kids and my new found love for hamburgers. Until you eat lots of takeout and frozen dinners for six weeks you can't appreciate this simple meal.

My recipe is simple:

- Sirloin (95% lean, I have high cholesterol after all)
- couple of dashes of L&P Worchestshire Sauce
- Garlic salt, mixed in and sprinkled on top
- Pepper, mixed in only

Cook on the griddle for 10 minutes (6 minutes one side , 4 minutes the other). Toast bun of choice (even the wonder bread works when you have been on the diet I have been on). Add Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, little mayo, and Heinz Ketchup (if it ain't Heinz it ain't ketchup). Don't forget the pickle on the side (Claussen).

Checking my e-mail, what a relief! The stainless steel stove and micro wave is a wonderful site. The griddle is a great addition. Pancake, sausage, eggs, burgers, french toast . . . . you get the point.

Hamburgers are great. Here's my suggestion, instead of sirloin one day use ground turkey meat.

Recipe:

- Ground turkey (the whiter the color the leaner the meat)
- Vinegar (1 teaspoon)
- Goya Adobo all purpose seasoning (C-Town, Met, etc.)
- Jamaician curry
- Black pepper
- Oregeno
- Basil
- Thyme
- Chopped onions
- Garlic (fresh)
- "Pinch" of Olive oil

Mix it up and drop it on the griddle. It tastes great and goes down lite. I get my meat from Whole Foods. Jump on the Manhattan bound "Q" (last car) to 14th St.-Union Sq.. Ground meat in lower level.

Love your blog as we are about to start on a renovation. Any thoughts on where to purchase windows? (We have 36 that need to be replaced!) We also need to have the frames rebuilt in many as the wood has rotted. So far we have only been to Loewes and there wasn't much of a selection.

thx (I read your post about windows way back.)

Try Louie of Elite Windows 718 256 4450.

We had also looked at Bay Ridge Windows.

Ah,living on take-out without a working kitchen! I remember it well. We practically got scurvy. Our first meal was a Stouffer's mac&cheese, it was food of the gods--for we had cooked it ourselves! Newfound appreciation for the simple things...
